"do nothing" isn't my strong suit
As you might know, I had a hard December with Lucy. Emphasis on "I". Because Lucy is living her best life. Let me explain... A month ago we were at the dog's annual exam and our vet felt a big mass in Lucy's abdomen. An xray confirmed that Lucy has a giant mass on her spleen. This led to more tests a week later at the specialty vet. It turns our that Lucy has something called splenic mass hemangiosarcoma. A word I never heard of before became all I thought about for the past few weeks. I was extremely stressed learning about this diagnosis. Due to many factors, Lucy's doctors, my family and I decided that the best thing for her is to "do nothing." But since I'm the most extra dog mom you know, I can't exactly "do nothing" for my best girl. Which brings us to Lucy living her absolute best fucking life right now! 🥰 Thanks to all my expert friends in the pet industry I put together a plan to make Lucy happy and healthy for as long as we have together. This includes making her food (which she loves!) and adding cancer-fighting supplements. We're also making the most of every day with snowy walks in the woods, daily lick mats and stuffed toppls. I'm happy to share what I've learned in my research in the past few weeks. I'll put together blog posts about how I'm making her food and the supplements we're using. If you have any specific questions please let me know. But in the meantime, please do me this favor... Make the most of every day with your dog! Go for that walk. Put your phone away. Give them an extra treat for no reason. Live it up just like Lucy is! P.S. Lucy's 13th Birthday is February 6th. I'm thankful to have 13 years of amazing memories together! And fun fact... when I adopted Burt he was roughly the same age as Lucy but didn't have a birthday, so I gave him her's. So we're celebrating 2 teenagers in my house next month!
