does this hat make me look like a crazy dog lady?
Summer is trying to crrep in, but it's still Spring, [FORMATTED_FIRST_NAME GOES HERE]. One tell-tale sign is seasonal allergies... and Burt is the latest victim! At 13 years old, he's never had allergies before. But he was insanely itchy earlier this month! The vet says it's actually common for dogs to develop allergies later in life. When I took Burt in, they mentioned the previous 2 appointments that day were also dogs in for seasonal allergies! Is your dog getting itchier lately, too? It seems like pollen is hitting everyone extra hard this year! So we're dealing with pollen, and already temps are rising, too 🥵 So I'm already into our Summer morning routine:
One thing I really don't like about Summer? Seeing dogs walking (or on a jog!) on scorching hot pavement in the afternoon heat. Those paw pads can burn in seconds! And heat stroke is dangerous! That's why early morning or evening walks are the way to go. Plus, cooler temps give the dogs amazing enrichment with all the fresh scents and quieter trails. Remember this: enrichment can't happen if we aren't meeting our dogs' basic needs first. Keeping them safe, cool and hydrated has to come before any fun summer enrichment activities. What's your favorite way to keep your dog cool and enriched as things heat up? Hit reply and share your tips - I'll feature some of the best ones in next week's email! xo Tori P.S. If you need some summer dog gear ideas, I'm updating my Amazon storefront with my favorite products, including that Coola sunscreen I mentioned. I'm usually an "unscented" girl, but I can't resist Coola's mango and other fun scents. They don't irritate my skin at all.
