Happy 13th Birthday to LUCY and BURT! π Thirteen years ago a little chocolate chunk was born in West Virginia. At 8 weeks old, she moved to Pittsburgh to begin a life full of adventure (and lots of snacks!) Burt's story is a little different. I have no clue where he was born or what his life was like. He was found as a stray in rural Ohio when he was about 5 years old. After a long stint at Action for Animals, he finally found his home with me and Lucy. When I met him, Burt didn't have a birth date just a guestimate age close to Lucy's. So when I signed his paperwork, I gave him Lucy's birthday so we could all celebrate together π So Happy Birthday to Burt and Lucy! This milestone is especially important to me this year because 6 weeks ago I found out that Lucy has a giant mass on her spleen and cancer. They told me she might have 1-3 months left. I said, "Please make it to your birthday. Just make it to 13, Lucy" ππ½ Not only has she made it to her birthday, but I'm so happy to share that she's doing really well. Homemade fresh food and daily walks in the woods are making her really happy. And that makes Burt and I very happy, too! π Anyway you slice it, a Labrador reaching 13 years old is a win! I'm so lucky to have these two in my life for so many wonderful years. I've been thinking a lot about all the cool things we've done together. Especially with Lucy! Here's a few photos from my archives that you might've never seen before. I hope they bring you joy and remind you to make the most of every day with your dog.
